Bedford Hills Author Releases New Children's Book

Katie Davis uses a variety of technology to engage her audiences.

Writers today are promoting their books through virtual book tours, author visits on skype, recording podcasts and emailing their readers—connecting with audiences in ways Shakepeare never imagined.

Bedford Hills-based author, Katie Davis, is one such author. Her latest book, Little Chicken's Big Day, released on Tuesday, comes with its own book trailer—a short video clip that "gets readers excited about a new book, sort of like when you go to the movies and see a clip to get excited about the movie," she said.

The trailer was recorded at the Bedford Hills Free Library, during one of Kathy Storfer's infamous story hours. The voices are those of children—"completely adorable," said Davis—in the community.

"That was so fun, and the kids loved it. And those children were older, around six years old. So the target audience may be up to four years old, but I think it's going to skew higher."

To celebrate the publication of Little Chicken's Big Day, Katie is holding a month of sweepstakes, starting with rewards for sharing the link for her book trailer, or for sending (preferably funny) chicken pictures, drawn or photo’d, of people or fowl to katiedavis@katiedavis.com. Details are on her website.
