Bedford Native Accused of Animal Abuse Sentenced to Jail
Ethan Weibman will spend 90 days in a Baltimore, MD jail.
A Bedford native accused of animal abuse has been sentenced to 90 days in jail by a Baltimore judge, according to this Baltimore Sun report.
Ethan Weibman, 20, who pled guilty last fall to animal cruelty in the death of one cat and the beating of another, will also have to pay $5,000 in fines and court costs and will serve three years probation during which time he is ordered to have no contact with animals, wrote Jill Rosen, the Sun reporter following the case.
Weibman, a Fox Lane graduate, was charged last March with animal cruelty resulting in death. Court documents say Weibman is a suspect in the deaths of five more cats and kittens.
The charges stemmed from separate incidents which took place in March and April 2010. Weibman allegedly adopted in March a cat from the Maryland SPCA, then returned the animal, dead, to the shelter two days later. He wanted to adopt another but his request was denied, according to the report.
Court documents describe a second incident in April when Weibman allegedly adopted a second cat from a PetSmart store, then brought the cat hours later to an animal hospital. The cat's injuries included broken teeth, a bloody nose, cuts, facial swelling and hemorrhaging around the eye.

Weibman was previously convicted of DWI in the town of Bedford in Nov. 2011, after being arrested in July 2010 for speeding and driving while ability impaired by drugs. He was sentenced to 60 days shock probation and ordered to pay $900 in fines, according to Bedford court records.

Well, it's important for your local readers to know that Ethan Weibman, who confessed to torturing, mutilating and killing, friendly, innocent cats whom he deliberately adopted for those reasons, is now free in Bedford. He has been released from jail and is apparently staying back at his family's home. His girlfriend through all of this, also a Fox Lane graduate, Jorden Donohue, is apparently still involved with him according to both of their Google+ accounts...only it appears that Jorden Donohue is now using the name "Jorden Rooney". Citizens beware! Considering that Ethan Weibman has been arrested three times in two years (once in Amherst, MA, prior to his arrest for DWI in Bedford and then the same year committed the torture, mutilation and deaths of at least two cats and is suspected in the deaths of five others), I would strongly recommend that people keep their pets inside and keep a close eye on Mr. Ethan Weibman. Again, this is a warning, protect your pets. Oh, and btw, thank you to the "Patch" for finally covering this story. It's too bad it wasn't reported back when you were notified immediately after his arrest but, at least you eventually covered the alarming psyche of Mr. Ethan Weibman. Thanks again.

The North Castle police were not helpful regarding usage of illegal weapons or hurting animals - as a Bedford resident I was familiar with - was under the North Castle jurisdiction. I wonder if the person above was listed in the jurisdiction of Bedford or North Castle? I actually told the police that my ex beat my dog when we were married, a judge awarded me my dog in a divorce, the ex kidnapped the dog...and the North Castle police did not assist me in getting my dog back when I went back to the Piping Brook Lane residence. They, instead, threatened to arrest me for TRESPASSING! My dog was neglected by the ex (he only used it to hurt me further than the domestic violence I experienced during my marriage), subsequently my dog died and I blame him for the death of Rocky! A judge said that he would not have "dog" in his court room - so I couldn't do anything about it. Shame on the North Castle police -for that and so much more!
