Mercedes Driven by 82-year-old Crashes Through Front Door of Goldens Bridge Dunkin Donuts

A pregnant woman and her daughter suffered minor injuries.

Around 7:40 a.m. on Friday, Ramona Nardella of Yonkers was attempting to back out of a parking space in front of the Dunkin' Donuts in the Golden's Bridge Shopping Plaza, but pressed the accelerator instead, causing her car to jump the curb and crash through the front of the store, state police say.

Nardella's car struck a 40-year-old male and a 32-year-old pregnant woman who were both inside the Dunkin' Donuts, who each suffered minor injuries. A two year-old daughter of the pregnant woman was also hit with debris and had a minor injury.

A Dunkin' Donuts customer who was in the store, and an A&P worker who was taking out the garbage outside the store at the time of the crash, describe the scene in the video.

The customer said it was a "horrible" scene with glass cracking and people running. She said the car was moving slowly enough that she had time to climb onto a counter but that she was still pinned against a napkin holder. The 2-year-old was near the window, she said, and her mother was pushed back by the car.

Both the Lewisboro police and state police said that the mother's vital signs were good, and that she and her daughter were taken to the Westchester Medical Center. Nardella, 82, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital for further evaluation. Nardella was issued a uniform traffic ticket for operating a motor vehicle on a sidewalk.

The car went into the store about 25-30 feet, said Bob Lauria, owner of the shopping center. Damages to the store include a shattered window, damaged doorway, and banged-up cooling equipment.
