The close of the Caramoor Center for Music and Arts 2012 Summer Music Festival this August will mark the end of a decade of leadership from the center’s Chief Executive and General Director, Michael Barrett.

According to Westchester.com, Barrett has overseen the expansion of Caramoor’s educational outreach programs as well as the launch of several critically acclaimed series including Sonidos Latinos, the center’s new American Roots Music Festival, a three-day Jazz Festival, Extreme Chamber music, family programs and new this summer – Gospel music.

Barrett assumed his current position in 2003 and the search for his successor will begin later this year. Mr. Barrett will return to Caramoor in 2013 as a pianist, mentor and conductor.
