Free Rabies Clinic Aug. 14

Westchester County residents can make an appointment for their dogs, cats and ferrets.

A free rabies clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 14 in New Rochelle.

Vaccinations will be available by appointment for dogs, cats and ferrets owned by Westchester County residents at the , 61 Quaker Ridge Rd.

To make an appointment, call the animal hospital at 914-632-1269.

Dogs must be on a leash, and cats and ferrets must be brought in carriers. Aggressive dogs must be muzzled.

Additional services—such as examinations and microchipping—and other vaccinations will be available at a reduced rate on Aug. 14 only.

State law mandates that dogs, cats and ferrets must receive their first rabies vaccine no later than four months after birth. A second rabies must be given within one year of the first shot, with addition boosters given every one or three years afterward, depending on the vaccine used.
