Looking for Spooky Fun? There's Plenty in and Around Bedford

Here's a roundup of events. Take pictures for Monday's 'Pumpkin Patch Halloween Photo Gallery'.

Trick-or-treating time is fast approaching, and there's a candy bucket full of events taking place in town over the next few days. Here's your Patch guide to the holiday festivities:

FRIDAY

  • Starting today, take pictures for our Pumpkin Patch Halloween Photo Gallery: Ok, so this is not an event but a shameless plug for our photo gallery to be posted on Monday. Take lots of pictures at all of these events—then you can easily upload your favorite photos of kids in costume, carved pumpkins, spooky houses and parade-goers.
  • Bedford Hills Halloween Parade sponsored by the Bedford Hills Free Library and the Bedford Hills Chamber of Commerce. Meet in front of the library at 4 p.m. and stick around for "not-so-scary" stories at the library following the parade.
  • Pumpkin carving at the Bedford Hills Community House: From 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., kids in fourth through seventh grade can come to carve pumpkins, have pizza and get goodies, sponsored by Bedford Parks and Recreation. There's a $30 fee which includes a carving set and food.
  • Halloween Hair-Raiser Costume Party at Lasdon: Halloween fun, music and food will be in store for adults at the annual Halloween bash at the Lasdon Park and Arboretum.

SATURDAY

SUNDAY

  • Bedford Hills Lions Club Spooky Pancake Breakfast: Sponsored by the Lion's Club, this breakfast starts at 7 a.m. and includes all-you-can-eat pancakes at the Bedford Hills Community House.  Kids are welcome to come in costume and enjoy pancakes and fantastical balloon hats created by Miss Kathy.

Adults are $7, Children 3 - 12 $4, and children under 3 are free.  No sign-up is required.

  • Katonah Halloween Parade: Sponsored by the Katonah Chamber of Commerce, this procession of costumed kids and families will stroll the sidewalks of Katonah village. Leading the cast of characters is Katonah Elementary School's principal, Jonathan Kaplan. Meet up behind the Katonah Firehouse by 3:30pm.  The parade will continue up and down Bedford Road, followed by donuts and cider behind the firehouse.
  • Bedford Village Halloween Parade: Sponsored by the Bedford Village Lions Club, this parade starts at 4 p.m. on the Bedford Village Green and goes to Bedford Village Elementary School where delicious donuts and cider will be provided.

About this column: This special one-week only column will feature Halloween events, a photo contest for the Best Jack-O-Lantern, and a Halloween Photo Gallery for everyone in town to upload their costumed kids.
We posted events that were in our calendar. If you have a Halloween event going on, email me at lisab@patch.com. And click on "add it to the calendar" from the events or home page. Tell us in the comments.
