American Indian Statue Taken From Tony's Cigars

The American Indian statue has been missing since March 23.

The solemn sentinel of Tony's Place, stolen on March 23, has not been recovered, and shopowners have no leads on the case, according to Dave Garcia, the lounge's Cigar Ambassador.

Brazenly stolen from outside the shop in broad daylight, sometime after 2 p.m., say Bedford police, the statue weighs more than 100 pounds and is worth approximaely $1,000.

"I know it was heavy, because we brought it out in the morning, and in at night," said Garcia. "It must have taken a couple of people to get it into a car quickly."

The statue had been there since the store's opening, about two years ago. It was a gift from owner Anthony Devito his partner Tony Scaglione, to celebrate opening their store together.
