Thank to KES parent volunteers for sending in this Photo of the Week, of this week's 2010 Stack Up. Kevin Corbett, physical education teacher, helped students in second through fifth grades stack both individually and in relays. Sport stacking has been termed a 'track meet for your hands at warp speed,' according to the World Sport Stacking Association—students up stack and down stack 12 specially designed cups called Speed Stacks in predetermined sequences as fast as they can.
These photos are of four veterans who stood in silence on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to observe the holiday and honor their fallen comrades. The four men stood in formation around the flagpole and World War I and II Memorial at Lawrence Circle in Katonah. Each man was dressed in a different uniform representing four branches of the U.S. Military: the Army, the Navy, the Air Force and Marine Corps. They were there for the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, which represents the anniversary of the signing of the armistice that ended World War I.
