How Governor Cuomo's budget proposals will affect citizens of the Hudson Valley will be the topic of a forum organized by a coalition of labor and community groups.

The Hudson Valley Coalition for a Fair Economy will host a free and open community forum, "A People's Town Hall: How the NY State Budget Affects You."

Ron Deutsch, Executive Director of New Yorkers for Fiscal Fairness, will discuss the effects of the Governor's executive budget proposal for 2012-2013 on safety net programs, school finance, and tax fairness.

The forum will then provide members of the public an opportunity to discuss how the budget will affect them. All elected officials in attendance will then have an opportunity to respond to residents’ concerns.

The forum will close with follow-up actions that the Coalition will organize in order to protect important services and investments in New York.

The coalition of community and labor groups organizing the forum include, American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME); Alliance for Quality Education (AQE); Community Voices Heard, Yonkers Chapter; Connie Hogarth Center for Social Action; CWA Local 1103; Hunger Acton Network of NYS; Mount Vernon United Tenants; MoveOn, Southern Westchester; Take19; WESPAC; Westchester for Change; and Westchester-Putnam Working Families Party.

The coalition was formed to strengthen the groups’ voices on efforts to reduce economic inequality, which has become ever more pronounced.

Viewing budgets as a statement of our collective priorities and the direction, The Coalition seeks to ensure that the public understands the effects of the budget on communities and individuals across the state.

It is also committed to providing the public opportunities to become involved in the budget process.

At the school's North Broadway Avenue campus, students — who come from a variety of religious backgrounds — are groomed for success through Christian values and a strong curriculum. It also offers students the opportunity to spend their senior year of high school as a college freshman.
