PEEKSKILL, NY —After earning Westchester Magazine’s “Best Wine Bar” and “Best Live Music Spot” in 2012, 12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar has become “the go-to spot for top-notch performers” (WM, Dec ’11) including Grammy winners and nominees, Emmy nominees and Blues Music Award finalists.
Many of the area's popular touring musicians also perform here, including Jon Cobert (Tom Chapin, Bruce Springsteen & others), Michael Bram (just off his national tour with Jason Mraz), Marc Von Em (Rob Thomas’s back-up singer) and even baseball great and guitarist, Bernie Williams.
Now, 12 Grapes has another outstanding artist on their roster: Chef Tibor Kogler. Just as they’ve done with their music and award-winning wine list, 12 Grapes is raising the bar on their menu as well, bringing New York City fine dining to Northern Westchester.
A native of Hungary, Kogler gained his expertise in some of the top restaurants in Manhattan, perfecting Greek food at Anthos, Spanish cuisine at Flor de Sol, and in New American cooking at Telepan, a farm-to-table pioneer. He also worked with Michael Psilakis at MP Taverna in Roslyn, Long Island. In 2009, Chef Tibor moved to the Hudson Valley and later headed the newly opened Tavern at the Gunks in Ellenville, one of Hudson Valley Magazine’s Best New Restaurants of 2011. His signature dish was featured on the cover.
At 12 Grapes, Tibor’s menu focuses on healthy, fresh ingredients, sourced locally whenever possible. His dishes pair well with 12 Grapes’ extensive wine list. Among the appetizers are Crispy Seared Spanish Octopus, Pork Ribs with Corn & Grilled Onions and Warm Brussels Sprout Salad with Blue Cheese, Bacon & Apples. Entrées include Pork Tenderloin with Red Wine Poached Plums, Pan-seared Rainbow Trout and Wild-caught Salmon with Creamy Mustard Dill Sauce. House-made desserts such as a flourless Baked Hot Chocolate and Pear Tarte Tatin are also menu standouts.
The popular Wednesday Night $10 Burger Special and monthly wine tastings will continue at the restaurant. Look for more wine tasting dinners, as well.
