Children from Bedford Hills and Katonah Bring Holiday Cheer to Elderly

Twelve children with the Random Farms Kids' Theater's Kids Who Care Holiday Troupe performed a 20-minute musical revue, filled with classic holiday tunes and seasonal favorites, at the Meadowview Assisted Living building in Mount Vernon on Friday, Dec. 14.

Chloe Whelan, 10, of Bedford Hills and Mirabel Mallett, 11, of Katonah were featured performers at the Mount Vernon event. Daniella Picerni of katonah is involved in the troupe's cast A.

"The Kids Who Care are talented child performers from the Random Farms Kids' Theater. They all love to sing and perform; the holiday troupe gives them an opportunity to give back during a time of year when it's important to emphasize the spirit of giving. Our goal is to spread joy by bringing the performing arts to local residents in nursing homes, hospitals and senior centers. Our audiences don't always have the ability to go to the theater, so we bring the show to them," said producer Anya Wallach, a Chappaqua native who runs the Random Farms' Kids Theater.

"The children are wonderful. They have great energy and such talent. I hope they keep it up," said nursing home reisdent Pearlyn Neita, 85, of Mount Vernon.

The Kids Who Care are a group of 24 young people, ranging in age from 7 to 13 years old. There are two casts, each with 12 children, doing six performances through Westchester County this holiday season. Cast B performed on Friday, Dec. 14 in Mount Vernon.

The Random Farms Kids' Theater is a non-profit organization based in Elmsford, N.Y. Learn more about their musical theater and performing arts training programs at www.randomfarms.com.

Okay but let's focus on the charter of the BOE. The Board of Education believes its primaryRead More responsibility should focus on creating an educational environment that will help our students become knowledgeable individuals, problem-solvers, quality producers, effective communicators, wholesome individuals, collaborative workers, ethical individuals, life-long learners, and responsible, accepting and involved citizens. We remain committed to providing a high quality, well-balanced educational program that supports our faculty and staff and helps our students meet and exceed State standards as well as high district goals. It says nothing about protecting the investments of taxpayers by voting "no" on every expenditure. We need forward thinking, broad minded individuals to help guide educational direction of our schools. Keeping expenses reasonable and and in check should be a consideration by the educational focus should be primary. Although novices, Trustees Tobin and Schiff have helped true the course of the board back to the direction of education. Mr Stone who himself admitted he had never even been to a BOE meeting before deciding to run offers no sense of motivation other than Dr Treyz and his friends think he'll help shift the direction back toward finance. Mr Holbrook is no different a candidate than Mr Lipton himself was 6 years ago.
