Katonah Museum to Hold Docent Training

via The Katonah Museum:

Looking for an activity that’s intellectually stimulating, personally rewarding, and just plain fun? The Katonah Museum of Art’s Docent Program may be just the thing. The Museum is currently seeking volunteers for its growing education program as it looks ahead to a busy school year. A background in the arts is not necessary to join – all applicants need is enthusiasm, an interest in volunteering and enriching children’s imaginations.

An integral part of the Museum’s mission to “promote the understanding and enjoyment of the arts for visitors of all ages,” KMA Docents lead varied and interesting tours tailored for adult and school groups. These intensive, college-level training sessions include insightful, information-packed lectures that fully immerse volunteers in each exhibition. Upcoming exhibitions for the 2011-2012 school year include New York, New York! The 20th Century, featuring artwork documenting the spirit and culture of New York City, and The Sleeping Dragon Rises: Contemporary Chinese Photography.

Docent Training sessions begin Wednesday, September 14 from 9:30-11:30am. For more information about the Docent Program, please contact the Museum’s Education Department at (914) 232-9555, ext. 2985 or email education@katonahmuseum.org.

This is a terrific addition to town! I know I struggle with mounting piles of things to donate andRead More finding places to give to. With the Community Center and now Goodwill, great to find a second home for goods.
