St. Luke's Ruschil Named MVP for WNEPSGSBA All-Star Softball Team

St. Luke’s 9th grader Marissa Ruschil, a member and the pitcher for the St. Luke’s Storm softball team, was chosen to participate in the WNEPSGSBA (Western New England Prep School Girls Softball Association) All-Star game this spring. The WNEPSGSBA team played the May 6 All Star game at Loomis Chaffee. After the game, Marissa (a Katonah resident) was honored as the team’s MVP. Head Softball Coach Camille DeMarco-Havens remarked, “We are very proud of Marissa. She is the cornerstone of our team and we all look forward to her continued progress in the sport during her years to come on the Hilltop.”

The All Stars were split into two teams (All Western NE.). Each school sent a representative. Marissa's team 'Florida' consisted of girls from: Taft, Cheshire Academy, Ethel Walker, Westminster Chase Collegiate, Miss Hall's, King, Deerfield, Hotchkiss, Choate, Greenwich Academy, Stoneleigh-Burnham, and Millbrook. Schools represented on the opposing team 'Arizona State': Marianapolis Prep, Suffield, Willston-Northhampton, Westover, Miss Porters, Hopkins, Loomis Chaffee, Greens Farms, Christian Heritage, Gunnery Kingswood Oxford, Wilbraham-Monson, Pomfret, Northfield Mount Hermon, Oakwood. Florida and Arizona State are the two top collegiate softball programs in the country.

Okay but let's focus on the charter of the BOE. The Board of Education believes its primaryRead More responsibility should focus on creating an educational environment that will help our students become knowledgeable individuals, problem-solvers, quality producers, effective communicators, wholesome individuals, collaborative workers, ethical individuals, life-long learners, and responsible, accepting and involved citizens. We remain committed to providing a high quality, well-balanced educational program that supports our faculty and staff and helps our students meet and exceed State standards as well as high district goals. It says nothing about protecting the investments of taxpayers by voting "no" on every expenditure. We need forward thinking, broad minded individuals to help guide educational direction of our schools. Keeping expenses reasonable and and in check should be a consideration by the educational focus should be primary. Although novices, Trustees Tobin and Schiff have helped true the course of the board back to the direction of education. Mr Stone who himself admitted he had never even been to a BOE meeting before deciding to run offers no sense of motivation other than Dr Treyz and his friends think he'll help shift the direction back toward finance. Mr Holbrook is no different a candidate than Mr Lipton himself was 6 years ago.
