St. Patrick's School to Host Dinner for Families Displaced by Closing of Catholic Schools

St. Patrick’s School in Bedford to Open Doors and Open Arms for Families of Closing Catholic Schools

St. Patrick’s School in Bedford is here to stay.  Therefore, they want to bring comfort and share their story with the families of those who are suffering from the recent school closures.

On February 13th, St. Patrick’s will be hosting a pasta night for current and prospective families.  Prior to dinner, they are inviting families to share in an Ash Wednesday Mass at 5:30pm at St. Patrick’s Church.  The dinner will be held immediately after at 6:30pm in St. Patrick’s school gym.

The recent decision by the New York Archdiocese to close 22 schools has devastated many families.  Many are afraid to trust that the remaining Catholic schools will actually stay open.  Therefore, St. Patrick’s is offering a solid landing spot in this time of uncertainty.

St. Patrick’s has experienced a 30% growth in the last three years.  Under the leadership of the principal, Jennifer Ciavirella, the school is thriving.  “Our hearts and prayers go out to the families who will be losing their schools next year,” says Ciavirella.  “Our doors are open. There is still a Catholic education option for these families.  We want them to feel secure and comfortable, and what better way to do so than over prayer and food.“  The NY Archdiocese has named St. Patrick’s a regional school for Northern Westchester.

St. Patrick’s School, 483 Old Post Road, Bedford, NY 10506 (914-234-7914) is a Pre-K through grade 8 parochial school located right outside of the village green in Bedford Village, New York.  At the core of St. Patrick’s philosophy is a strong value system, to encourage students not only to achieve academic excellence but also to strive for high ethical values and social responsibility.  http://stpatricksbedford.com

Okay but let's focus on the charter of the BOE. The Board of Education believes its primaryRead More responsibility should focus on creating an educational environment that will help our students become knowledgeable individuals, problem-solvers, quality producers, effective communicators, wholesome individuals, collaborative workers, ethical individuals, life-long learners, and responsible, accepting and involved citizens. We remain committed to providing a high quality, well-balanced educational program that supports our faculty and staff and helps our students meet and exceed State standards as well as high district goals. It says nothing about protecting the investments of taxpayers by voting "no" on every expenditure. We need forward thinking, broad minded individuals to help guide educational direction of our schools. Keeping expenses reasonable and and in check should be a consideration by the educational focus should be primary. Although novices, Trustees Tobin and Schiff have helped true the course of the board back to the direction of education. Mr Stone who himself admitted he had never even been to a BOE meeting before deciding to run offers no sense of motivation other than Dr Treyz and his friends think he'll help shift the direction back toward finance. Mr Holbrook is no different a candidate than Mr Lipton himself was 6 years ago.
