Dear friend,
Writopia Lab in Westchester's fall schedule is now posted on our website. The fall semester will begin Saturday, September 10th, and with extended sessions can continue to Thursday, December 22nd. If you don't see a class that fits your schedule, let us know and we'll try to open a new class!
We are working hard at keeping our prices low, and will be charging $425 for ten regular sessions during the school year.
For those who have not yet taken a Writopia Lab afterschool or weekend workshop, each young author chooses to focus on developing and completing by the end of the semester at least one polished piece of writing, usually a short story, memoir, piece of journalism, script, or college essay.
By December, we will help all interested middle and high school writers submit to the 2012 Scholastic Writing Awards. In the spring, we'll invite those interested students to submit to Writopia Lab's own 2012 Best Playwrights' Festival. Submissions are also welcomed for Writopia Lab's online literary magazine,The (Parenthetical).
To build a community of young writers we need a roof over our heads, and we are very excited to continue our relationships with The Voracious Reader bookstore in Larchmont and the United Methodist Church in Katonah. The Voracious Reader's indefatigable Francine Lucidon has become our hero for seeing the short distance between what constitutes a young reader and a young author!
