Celebrating Halloween in a Big Way

The Katonah-Lewisboro School District’s elementary schools joyfully celebrated Halloween with extra enthusiasm after the weather impacted the past two years’ festivities! Smiles were on children’s faces as they participated in various activities.

At Increase Miller Elementary School, the gymnasium was transformed into a Halloween paradise thanks to the efforts of approximately 30 parent volunteers. Walls were decorated with dancing skeletons and the gym was divided into eight fun stations with games and contests including “Pumpkin Toss,” “Ghouly Match,” “Mummy Wrap,” “Spooky Dance,” and “Guess How Much?” “Halloween Silly Faces” offered students a variety of funny eyewear and teeth. They then posed for a photographer against an eerie backdrop. “Skeleton Race” involved teamwork while building skeletons and “Spider Web” provided an ingenious way to practice math problems.

Parents Mrs. Klein and Mrs. Almstead chose to donate their time and resources a week earlier as well.  Along with other generous parents, they decorated a building hallway, creating a mysterious “Haunted Trail.” They also organized evening events such as pumpkin picking and decorating and a dessert contest. The visiting community was offered pizza and hot chocolate. Their goal was to offer the children something special, and they did just that!
