PRJC, a small, warm, liberal Jewish Chavurah serving northern Westchester and nearby Connecticut, is seeking new members. We celebrate one Shabbat a month and all Jewish Holidays with a pot-luck dinner and a highly participatory service, held at a member's home. In lieu of formal sermons, Rabbi Nancy Wiener introduces a theme with contemporary relevance, related to the weekly Torah portion, and leads the congregation in a discussion. We have monthly adult education sessions, with Sunday brunch, also taught by Rabbi Wiener.
Religious school for grades 3-7 meets weekly on Friday afternoons, emphasizing the history and contemporary meanings of Jewish rituals and holidays as well as the ethical responsibilities of being Jewish. Our unique Hebrew language program offers each child the opportunity to learn at his/her own pace and in his/her own style through individual Hebrew lessons by phone , 1/2 hour weekly.
PRJC welcomes all individuals and families interested in exploring the meaning Judaism can have in their lives. All are welcome to join us for Friday Shabbat services to be held Friday July 26 on Lake Waccabuc, and for High Holly Day services at Steven's Memorial Church in South Salem, at no charge.
