Westchester Land Trust 2014 Benefit Promises “An Evening Under the Stars”

The Board of Directors of the Westchester Land Trust (WLT) and the 2014 Benefit Committee recently announced that this year’s benefit, “An Evening Under the Stars,” will be held on Saturday, June 14th at Old Salem Farm in North Salem.  The event will welcome more than 350 attendees and take place in a double-decker tent on Old Salem Farm with spectacular views of this premier equestrian facility which is slated to host the 2014 American Gold Cup. 

Guests can expect a seasonally-inspired dinner catered by Tastefully Yours, as well as dancing, silent and live auction, and much more.  WLT is also pleased to announce this year’s honoree, former WLT Executive Director, Candace M. Schafer.

Jonathan Wiesner, Chairman of the WLT's Board of Directors said that, "We are proud to honor Candace for years of dedication to the Westchester Land Trust and her ongoing commitment to permanently protect environmentally valuable land throughout the region."  He went on to note that Candace had led the nationally accredited land conservation organization through its 25th Anniversary last year and successfully forged public and private partnerships to protect and enhance the natural resources in the Westchester and Eastern Putnam County communities.  Candace recently stepped down as Executive Director and has joined the WLT's Board of Directors.

All of the funds raised through the WLT 2014 Benefit will enable the organization to protect environmentally-important open space and care for and manage the 24 preserves it owns.

Founded in 1988, WLT recently celebrated 25 years of working with public and private partners to preserve land in perpetuity, and to protect and enhance the natural resources in Westchester and eastern Putnam County.  The WLT’s conservation efforts impact the long term health of these communities through protection of watershed areas, air quality, and food supply.  In total, the WLT has preserved more than 7,500 acres of open space including 650 acres of preserves owned by the organization.
