Patch Picks: Music for Aardvarks and Other Mammals; Elmo; Raw Life Food Co-Op

There is something for everyone to do this week in the Hudson Valley.

.Jan. 1. All day. Submit a play to be judged by a panel of performing arts professionals. Those accepted will have a workshop-style showcase of two performances at the Edward Hopper House Art Center. Plays can address any topic or theme but must meet the criteria and follow instructions listed in the guidelines. Playwrights at all stages of development welcomed, both professionals and pre-professionals. Submissions deadline is Monday, March 12. $20. Edward Hopper House Art Center, 82 N. Broadway, Nyack.

Jan. 2. 9 p.m. Get it all out at Lucy's Lounge. Free. Lucy's Lounge, 446 Bedford Rd., Pleasantville.

Jan. 6. 5 p.m. Irvington resident and "Beling Elmo" producer Corinne LaPook is joined by the film's director at the Irvington Town Hall Theater for a special screening of the behind-the-sceens look at what it takes to be one of the world's most beloved characters. Irvington will celebrate the iconic figure by turning the town green, red. Events and discounts are scheduled. Free. Village of Irvington Town Hall Theater, 85 Main St., Irvington.

 Jan. 7. 8 a.m. Applebee's in Brewster hosts “Dining to Donate,” a fund-raiser to benefit the Brewster Fire Department Explorers, the youngest volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel. $6. , 115 Independent Way, Brewster.
