Women's Civic Club of Katonah Membership Coffee
Members old, new and potential will attend a mid-morning coffee hosted by the Women's Civic Club of Katonah at the club's Memorial House, 71 Bedford Road, Katonah, on Thursday, September 20. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. Members will provide refreshments and will describe the club's philanthropic and social activities, which include a monthly luncheon meeting and program. The club's main purpose is to raise funds for local high school scholarships and other charities, which members do through volunteering time at the Katonah Thrift Shop two half-days a month.
The Civic Club is a member of the Westchester Federation of Women's Clubs. WCCK was founded in 1918 as a continuance of the Katonah Suffrage Club, organized in 1913 to help obtain the right to vote for women. It incorporated in 1923 and built its own clubhouse, the Memorial House, in 1924. The house is available for use by civic organizations and for rental for private functions. The thrift shop is located in the lower level of the building.
Reservations are required and may be made by calling Mary Jo O'Brien, 666-2064. There is no charge to attend.
