Mrs. Green's Rehires Workers It Fired in a Labor Dispute

The rehired employees will receive back pay from the weeks they were gone from the market.

Eight veteran workers recently fired by Mrs. Green's Natural Market in a labor dispute have been rehired following an agreement between the chain and the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1500, according The Villager.

The workers had been let go from the upscale market's Mount Kisco store, but Mrs. Green's has locations throughout Westchester County. The employees, who were fired earlier in the year, will receive back pay in addition to being rehired.

"Mrs. Green’s Natural Market is proud of its associates – employing more full-time associates than its competitors, giving bonuses and discounts to hourly employees, and creating profit sharing and promotional opportunities for our team members – and today’s agreement honors that core value," said spokesperson John Collins in a statement to The Villager. Collins is the Senior Vice President at Mercury LLC, which represented the chain. "Store leadership embrace these values and core principles and has stepped forward to do the right thing for its associates. Now we are moving forward with a shared commitment to provide Mt. Kisco families with organic, local and all-natural products and access to a healthier lifestyle.”

The agreement was reached earlier this week, and it means the matter of the fired workers will not have to be argued before the National Labor Relations Board, which was slated to hear the case, according to Supermarket News.
