The new business, located on 237 E. Main St., includes handmade jewelry from Nepal, said co-owner Ram Bista. He and his wife, Madhuri Bista, live in the village and moved to the United States from Nepal. She designs the jewelry herself, he explained, then it is made overseas.

In addition, the store sells Thangka paintings, which Bista described as “art on a canvass.” Gold is used as a painting material, he explained, and the paintings sell for up to $10,000.

Right Click Solutions Gets New Digs

Computer network services company Right Click Solutions, which was founded nearly a decade ago as a home business, now has its own office space. The company held a grand opening on Oct. 12 for its new location, at 322 E. Main St. in downtown Mount Kisco. The building, noted Right Click co-owner Dan Taplitz, was originally located near Leonard Park, dating back roughly a century, before being moved to its current spot. The property is co-owned by former Mount Kisco Mayor Patricia Reilly.

Taplitz and his wife (and business partner) Sammi live locally with their kids and have non-profit clients ranging from the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester, to Neighbors Link, to synagogues in the region.

Dan Taplitz, when talkign with local reporters at the grand opening, said about 60-70 percent of their business is in the region, but also explained that they have a global presence.

“We set up in Azerbaijan, Serbia, Bulgaria – all from here in Mount Kisco.”

Sammi Taplitz said that she focuses on operations and marketing, while her husband focuses on the technology side.

Armonk Road Pizzeria Worries Residents

Several residents who live near the Route 117/Route 128 intersection in Mount Kisco are concerned about a proposed wood-fire pizzeria for a former vehicle maintenance building at 41 Armonk Road. At a Planning Board meeting on Oct. 23, the residents, particularly those from the Timber Ridge condo complex, voiced concern about traffic safety, patrons and smell.

The Planning Board also had its own concerns, with a feeling that there may not be enough parking for the project.

Nanette Bourne, the village's planning consultant, noted that a tandem employee parking element in the proposal is not allowed in the local code, and said it would be“very awkward to get those employee spaces in and out.”

Megan Stanford, a Timber Ridge resident and oen of several residents who spoke, was among those citing quality of life concerns, saying that residents would like the property to be developed but “not in the food service sense.” She suggested that the proposal would work well in downtown Mount Kisco in one of the vacant storefronts.

Worried and feeling that the outcome was already decided by the Planning Board, Stanford described the matter as a "fait accompli," which frustrated Chairman Joseph Cosentino, who denied the assertion and argued that it was premature.

“We will do what is best for Timber Ridge," he said.

An official on behalf of the applicant offered to resubmit the site plan.

Mark Viola, a partner in the proposed restaurant, talked after the appearance and was receptive to the concerns at the meeting.

Xenia Fine Foods is Now Open

Xenia Fine Foods, which has moved into the former Touch of Jamaica site at 37 S. Moger Ave. in Mount Kisco, is now open with posted hours and a flag noting its business.
