Local Food Drives Support Community Center of Northern Westchester

CCNW recognizes those who contribute to the center and help improve the lives of families in need. Plus, check out some cool events that will benefit CCNW:

This is a time of year when people from every corner of the community band together to collect food and clothing for the Community Center of Northern Westchester, and rally to help families in need.

Here are just some of the food and clothing drives that brought so many proud faces through our doors this month, arms full of loaded boxes and bags to give.

The people pictured here collectively brought 2,024 pounds of food to our shelves, helping to make the holidays special for many families.

Many thanks to Katonah Elementary, Pound Ridge Community Church, the Lewisboro Lions and Lissie’s Katonah Playschool for their generosity and support.

We will share more of these drives in the weeks to come.

If you are interested in organizing your own food drive, click here for more information.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Luke Longo, left, age 8 and his brother Jake, age 5, helped Pound Ridge Community Church, a long-time community partner of the Center, deliver the 621 pounds of food the Church collected during its recent food drive.

Darryl Caprio, President of the Lewisboro Lions, with some of the 336 pounds of food the Lions collected in their latest food drive for the Center.

Group of pre-schoolers from Lissie’s Katonah Playschool in downtown Katonah who brought 139 pounds of food, made the delivery via their red wagons.

Okay but let's focus on the charter of the BOE. The Board of Education believes its primaryRead More responsibility should focus on creating an educational environment that will help our students become knowledgeable individuals, problem-solvers, quality producers, effective communicators, wholesome individuals, collaborative workers, ethical individuals, life-long learners, and responsible, accepting and involved citizens. We remain committed to providing a high quality, well-balanced educational program that supports our faculty and staff and helps our students meet and exceed State standards as well as high district goals. It says nothing about protecting the investments of taxpayers by voting "no" on every expenditure. We need forward thinking, broad minded individuals to help guide educational direction of our schools. Keeping expenses reasonable and and in check should be a consideration by the educational focus should be primary. Although novices, Trustees Tobin and Schiff have helped true the course of the board back to the direction of education. Mr Stone who himself admitted he had never even been to a BOE meeting before deciding to run offers no sense of motivation other than Dr Treyz and his friends think he'll help shift the direction back toward finance. Mr Holbrook is no different a candidate than Mr Lipton himself was 6 years ago.
