John Jay Alum Recovering from Injury; Status for Lax Season at Syracuse Unclear

Attackman Mike Daniello recently transferred from Johns Hopkins to Syracuse.

Cross River native Mike Daniello, a lax star who graduated John Jay High School, is reportedly recovering at home after sustaining a serious head injury that may have an affect on the upcoming season.

A sophomore at Syracuse University, Daniello was involved in an accident late last month that left him with a skull fracture, according to several news agencies.

"Head coach John Desko has spoken with the attack and his family, but Daniello has not returned to Syracuse and Assistant Director of Athletic Communications Mike Morrison said Daniello’s status is still uncertain," a Jan. 8 report written by David Wilson of The Daily Orange, SU's student newspaper, states.

The coach told the paper that Daniello is "doing much better." Additional details of the accident are unclear.

Daniello graduated from John Jay in 2011. Lacrosse Insider named him the 10th-ranked incoming freshman attackman. He has two brothers who also played college lax.
