VIDEO: Jazz Event Raises Funds for Lewisboro Library

The evening featured a performance by the Jazz Soul Coalition.

The Lewisboro Library was filled with the sounds of The Jazz Soul Coalition Friday night when approximately 100 people gathered for the fundraiser, "Jazz, Soul & a Taste of Lewisboro."

The event raised $3,600  to support of the library's ongoing operations, including acquisitions, programs and events. The library is currently planning a renovation and addition of 1,600 square feet.

The musical ensemble featured music producer and jazz vibraphonist Steve Shapiro, jazz bassist Mark Egan, drummer Joel Rosenblatt, vocalist Vaneese Thomas and saxophonist Andy Snitzer. The library was transformed into a club-like atmosphere with the band taking center stage, surrounded by reserved tables and a standing-room-only crowd enjoying samplings of food and wine from local merchants.

Shapiro—who assembled the group for the evening to lend their services to the cause—said the band had a blast.

"It's always a joy to play to such a receptive audience," said Shapiro, who is also a father of two boys at Lewisboro Elementary School. "And we are happy to support the cause of a vibrant hometown library, something that benefits everyone in our community."
