Patch Picks: Take Your Doll to Tea; Port Chester Day; Crafts at Amawalk

There is something for everyone to do this week in the Hudson Valley.

 Aug. 25. 2:30 p.m. Author Kevin Henkes adds "Penny and Her Doll" to his "Penny" series and children ages 4-7 can celebrate with a tea party at The Voracious Reader. Enjoy tea for two, complete with tea sandwiches, scones with devon cream and jam, cupcakes, pink lemonade and a pot of tea while you enjoy a reading. $30 covers parent or caregiver and child plus a 10% discount on the book "Penny and Her Doll." Reserve early as space is limited. 1997 Palmer Ave., Larchmont.

Aug. 24. 9 p.m. Bob Baldwin and Friends perform at the newly-programmed Bassline Jazz club, located near the Mt. Vernon East (Metro-North/New Haven Line). Baldwin is a Mt. Vernon native and former New Rochelle resident with over 19 albums to his credit. $20. 130 E. 1st St., Mount Vernon.

Aug. 26. 11 a.m. Celebrate the Annual India Day Parade and Festival starting at the New City Library grounds. Walk along North Main Street and finish at the Rockland County Court House grounds where you can enjoy a festival that includes a cultural program, community displays, vendors and Indian food. There is also a carnival for kids. , 1 S. Main St., New City.

Aug. 26. Noon. Enjoy one of the biggest folk music gatherings in the region when you attend the Borderline Folk Music Club's annual picnic and festival. Si Kahn has 16 albums to his credit and is the headline act. Twenty professional musicians will perform Kahn's music and some of their own. Soft drinks provided. Please adhere to the no-alcohol policy. Kahn will also lead a workshop on immigration and the labor movement. Free. , 200 Congers Rd., New City.

. Aug. 25. 11 a.m. Head to Lyon Park on Putnam Avenue and King Street for craft vendors, rides and children's activities. Live entertainment also on tap. The  is open from 1 to 3 p.m. The  has activities for all from noon to 5 p.m. Performances by The New Life Choir of St. Frances AME Zion Church; the Bolivian Marks Laiko Band performs; Rico Dos Anos karate; the Casey Girls; Greg Di Meceli and the Kids Drum Corps; 5 Morning Star; the Port Chester Senior Chorus; the Hey Baby Band; Sia Tofano and Company; and Book-Ends. Fireworks. Grucci fireworks end the day. 

 Aug. 25. Noon. This Event was created to collect Funds for Local Veterans who have first attended Brewster High School and been honorably discharged from The Service of Our Nation.  Our first goal is to collect enough Funds to create a Commemoration and Honor Wall or Plaques at Brewster High School for those Veterans that have served Our Country in the past and those that continue to Serve to Protect us today, and in the future !  Eventually the goal is to also offer help in the way of a Scholarship for future Brewster High School graduates that wish to Serve or have a Military career based on Academic Achievement! It is also a way to show a Celebration and Appreciation for those Soldiers that are here with us to see how much we Appreciate their and their Families sacrifices! $15. , 1430 Route 22, Brewster.

Aug. 25. 9 a.m. Head to the Amawalk Artsy Craftsy from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. for teen and adult crafting, knitting, crochet projects or anything else you feel like bringing. If you feel like it, bring snacks for all to share. Free. 2467 Quaker Church Rd., Yorktown Heights.

This is a terrific addition to town! I know I struggle with mounting piles of things to donate andRead More finding places to give to. With the Community Center and now Goodwill, great to find a second home for goods.
