Region Could Be Hit By Nor'easter This Week

Forecasters are watching a storm that is forming that could bring heavy rain, winds and possible flooding to areas trying to clean up after Hurricane Sandy, plus temperatures are dropping.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the New Jersey-New York-New England region for later this week.

According to noaa.gov: "There is the potential for a coastal storm to impact the tri-state region Wednesday and Thursday. This storm has the potential to bring strong gusty winds, rain/wintry precipitation, coastal flooding and additional beach erosion to the tri-state area."

According to NBC.com, "The system wouldn't be another Sandy, but it could build off North Carolina next Tuesday, then move up the coast and affect New Jersey, Long Island and other hard-hit areas by Wednesday."

"The possible storm next week is not of the same make up as Sandy," prediction center forecaster Jim Cisco told NBC News, "though any more rain, snow or wind would certainly pose exacerbating effects on the impacted regions."

Says WXEdge.com, “Heavy rain and strong winds are possible and if the nor'easter does track along the coast, a strong easterly wind could cause moderate to major coastal flooding. With areas along the coastline already hit hard last week, any kind of storm could prove problematic. … Although there could be some snow in Connecticut, heavy snow is not likely. Any snow would likely be confined to the inland higher terrain and especially at the beginning of the storm.”

In addition, temperatures are dropping, and overnight temperatures are predicted to fall into the 20s this week.

You should be happy you don't live in Lewisboro with our do nothing supervisor Parsons. He laid off so many highway workers so we're down to 6 for the whole damn town. There are NO crews anywhere! It's like a ghost town here. Trees and power lines are still down where they fell. Nyseg is nowhere to be seen. I guess Nyseg enjoys walking all over Parsons. I am so sick and tired of living in Green Acres, maybe Wilbur would make a good mayor.

Be lucky that you don't live in lewisboro. It is a ghost town here. Nyseg is yet to be seen. Tree and power lines still lay where they fell. Town supervisor obviously being walked all over by Nyseg. no hope.

They keep telling us that we do not have power because tree limbs get stuck in the power lines and bring them down. So what do we do? We plant the same kind of trees. There are many varieties of trees that do not grow as tall and do not reach the power lines. Why don't we plant them? We go through this every year and I'm sick of it.

Sorry folks. The "lord" has nothing to do with this. It's a case of mother nature taken to extremes, most probably caused by man. Best thing to do is to stock up on non perishable food and a way to keep yourselves warm. Our goverment should be protecting us but this is the 'ol USA where everyone lives for themselves, profit and greed. Good luck!

Way to be so negative Bradley! There are many people including myself that will continue to pray to the good "Lord" above us!
Ezekiel November 4, 2012 at 09:18 pm
Pray to the lord? Seriously? If that's what you believe, Isn't this all knowing entity creating the storm? Time to find reality, Sheep

Bradley, be careful what you wish for.
Rule of law and capitalism (profit and greed) bring you most of what you take for granted. You are welcome to sample the alternatives. Protecting one's family to the extent you can without government is alway prudent.

I think it important that now more than ever we each hold tight to our sense of entitlement, the bubbles in which we all live. We must never let these storms take that from us. It's essential. I myself view these events as exotic adventures. As I sit here, reading my book by latern light (latern from Hammacher Schlemmer), preparing for the next proverbial fecal storm. I fashion myself as modern day Abraham Lincoln, my wife a vibrant Jacqueline Kennedy, or Hillary Clinton (90's) or at times, Tina Turner. Suddenly I am transported far, far, away, from my fears of marauding youth bursting into my home, Clockwork Orange but without lights. I can return back to the peace and comfort of my everyday self involved lifestyle. We must never forget that there is time and place for denial. This is that time, this is, that place. Cloak ourselves in empty cliches, so that nasty and troubling realities never diminish our egos and invade our minds. Remember that it is darkest just before the dawn. We are not strangers, we are neighbors. Grace under pressure is the most valued grace of all. Yes, batteries, water, a couple of generators to power smart phones and I Pads are essential of course, but don't forget to include this philosophy as part of your emergency survival kits. Never change, never ever change, hold on the fantasy of who and what you are. Go about your business as you always have, in self centered little bubble, where truth cannot hurt you. I am agog already.

This White Plains resident had hoped to have her power, heat, and phone restored BEFORE losing them again to the coming Nor'easter. Guess not.
