It's five things you need to know Tueday

1. Kindergarten registration

Bedford Central Schools sent out a reminder to parents that February 28 through March 30 is the period for registering children who will be entering kindergarten in September, 2012. A child must be age 5 by December 1st of their kindergarten school year in order to register. Call your local elementary school to get registration information.

2. Town board to discuss open meeting law changes

As of February 2, attendees of public meetings will have the right to see any documents or records to be discussed at a meeting, either posted online prior to its start or at the meeting, for a fee. According to the New York committee on open government: The purpose of the legislation is simple:  those interested in the work of public bodies should have the ability, within reasonable limitations, to see the records scheduled to be discussed during open meetings prior to the meetings.

3. Scrabble!

Cornelia Guest returns to the to School Scrabble. New members are welcome to fill the few remaining spaces left. School Scrabble is a little bit different than the traditional Scrabble game—it's done with a clock and in teams of two. More details of School Scrabble can be found at the National Scrabble Association. This program is a weekly on Mondays from  4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. For details  

4. Free SAT/ACT practice test

ACT vs SAT—which test would your child do better on? Have them take Kaplan's unique comboniation test to find out which exam might be better, this Thursday at 4 p.m. at All test takers get a full score report.  Bring a calculator, extra No. 2 pencils and a snack!  Details on how to
