It's a Spook-tacular weekend ahead in Bedford, Katonah and Lewisboro!

Final Two Days of Katonah Village Library Book sale

Where/When: Katonah Village Library, Friday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. - noon.

Why go: The 41,000 items that went on sale a week ago have dwindled and bargains are to be had! There are historical books, valuable volumes of art, garden books, current best sellers, DVDs and childrens' books.

WLT Open House and Harvest Celebration

Where/When: Westchester Land Trust on Harris Road, 4:30 p.m. Friday

Why go: Celebrate the fall season with Westchester Land Trust and friends; enjoy a glass of wine while listening to the talented Brooklyn-based blues, country and experimental band “The Woes" and grab a delicious bite of a pizzette from Mount Kisco’s Via Vanti!, made with ingredients from local farms. Children welcome and pumpkin decorating available.

33rd Annual KES Halloween Fair

 

When/Where: Saturday, Oct. 27, 11 a.m.

Why go: Fun for kids includes "friendly ghost activities and not-so-friendly ghost activities—you decide" according to organizers. There's a "Haunted Dungeon," Dr. Boo Boo’s Haunted Hospital, games, prhttp://bedford.patch.com/admin/articles/weekend-planner-halloween-edition-b342d154/editizes and Halloween-themed crafts.  Face painters, an inflatable bounce and a 50/50 raffle are also planned.

Katonah Bedford Hills Ambulance - Chicken Dinner

Where/When: Katonah-Bedford Hills Ambulance Corps, Saturday 5 p.m.

Why go: Stop by the Corps headquarters and get a complete dinner including ½ a chicken, cole slaw, sweet & sour baked beans, and a dinner roll from famed local chef and ambulance corps member Hank Tschorn who will be slowly barbecuing the chicken all day over an open pit outside the Corps headquarters. No reservations are necessary and no waiting – just drive in and take out a great meal.

Price: $12.00 

 

Lions Club Spooky Pancake Breakfast

When/Where: Sunday, October 28th from 8 am – 1 pm at the Bedford Hills Community House on the corner of Church and Main Streets at 74 Main Street, Bedford Hills.

Why go: The Bedford Hills Lions Club will host its annual Halloween “Spooky” Pancake Breakfast with a menu that features all-you-can-eat pancakes, buttermilk or buckwheat, with butter, syrup and your choice of toppings – blueberry, chocolate chip, apple or cherry.  The meal comes with sausages plus coffee, tea, milk, or juice.

Price: $7

 

Katonah Chamber's Halloween Fest

Where/When: TBA due to storm

Why go: Get ready to get your scare on Sunday afternoon! There will be food, fun, games, contests and activities for the whole family, including:

  • Apple pie baking contest
  • Mini-parade
  • Mask-making
  • Dog parade
  • Face-painting

Haunted House

Where/When: Little Village Playhouse and Saturday, Oct. 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

Why go: Check out a haunted mansion with scares for the whole family presented by ARC Stages this weekend.

Rocky's 5K Trail Race

Where/When: Rockefeller State Preserve on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9 to 11 a.m.

Why go: Enjoy the scenic Rockefeller State Park Preserve in a 5K race that benefits the trail maintenance. There will be refreshments, t-shirts and more for all participants. Sign up onlinehere. There will be awards for the top three male/female teams, team categories and various age groups.

Sleepy Hollow Haunted Hayride & Block Party

Where/When: Beekman Avenue Firehouse in Sleepy Hollow on Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27 from 7 to 11 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 28 from 7 to 10 p.m.

Why go: Sleepy Hollow's annual Haunted Hayride is going all weekend long. Tickets purchased in advance are good for any night. Rides occur on a first-come, first-serve basis. Note: Patch is a sponsor of the hayride.

Haunting on the Hill at Thunder Ridge

When/Where: Thunder Ridge Ski, Pawling, NY (about 35 minutes from Katonah)

Why go: Don’t miss the last weekend of the infamous Haunting on the Hill. Hayride and demonic village at the very top of Thunder Ridge mountain in Patterson, New York, nestled deep in the forest where no one can hear you scream!  Ranked by Reader’s Digest as one of the top ten haunted attractions in the country!  October 26, 27 & 28, Friday & Saturday from 7pm to midnight. Historic Hudson Valley

Historic Hudson Valley with their sites here (Sunnyside, Philipsburg Manor) and there (Cortlandt Manor) truly have something for everyone. There's very scary and exciting Horseman’s Hollow (tickets still available for Oct. 28).
