A History of Impressionism

Art historian Beth S. Gersh-Nesic will present an introduction to the
Impressionism movement which begins with the Realist precursors Gustave Courbet
and Édouard Manet and highlights the principal members: Claude Monet,
Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, Camille Pissarro, Berthe Morisot, Alfred
Sisley and Gustave Caillebotte.  Slides
of the art will enhance the program.  Ms.
Gersh-Nesic is the director of the New
York Arts Exchange
, an arts education
service, and she teaches art history at Purchase College and Mercy
College.  Her essays on Realism, Impressionism and Post-Impressionism are
