Katonah Scrabble Tournament

Scrabble is coming to Katonah! On Saturday, February 9, the Katonah Memorial House will host the first Katonah Scrabble Tournament, open to players of all ages and skill levels.


Cornelia Guest, a longtime director with the North American Scrabble Players Association, will direct the event, which offers three playing options:


1. 10 am-1 pm: A 3-game unrated tournament for new players and players with NASPA ratings under 1000. There will be separate divisions for adults and youth players. $25 entry fee.

2. 2 pm-6 pm: A 4-game rated tournament for new players and players with NASPA ratings under 1000. Players must be NASPA members ($15 to join). There will be separate divisions for adults and youth players. $25 entry fee.


3. 10 am-6 pm: A 7-game rated tournament open to all NASPA members ($15 to join). There will be 2-3 separate divisions, by rating. $55 entry fee (cash prizes). $15 discount for first-time players.

Cornelia will be bringing extra Scrabble equipment for players who need it. New players will get instruction on using the clock, adjudicating challenges, and the other ins and outs of tournament play.
