The Northern Westchester GOP, an informal group comprised of the Republican town committees in Bedford, Lewisboro, North Salem, Pound Ridge and Somers, and the
Northern Westchester Conservatives are holding a joint, "Meet the Candidates Night" featuring special guest George Oros, chief of staff to County Executive Rob Astorino, at Le Château Restaurant in South Salem on Thursday evening,
November 1, 2012 from 7 PM to 9 PM. Congresswoman Nan Hayworth, State Senator Greg Ball, Assemblyman Bob Castelli and State Senate candidate Bob Cohen are
expected to attend, along with local and judicial candidates.
Andrea Rendo, chair of the Lewisboro Republican Town Committee, said the idea came out of the monthly breakfast meetings held by the northern Westchester committee chairs to discuss local issues. "While we most often operate at the municipal level, we realized that the issues we discussed, from runaway property taxes and
the onerous unfunded mandates passed down from Albany, to the illegal manner in which the HUD housing settlement is being forced upon local communities, were
common to all of us," she said.
Bedford vice-chair, Luke Vander Linden, agreed. "Republican success in the past several
elections has ended the dysfunction in Albany, and with the passage of the Governor’s 2% tax cap and the partial reform of the MTA tax, this success has brought meaningful reform," Mr. Vander Linden said. "But much more needs to be done, and special interests in Albany, White Plains and New York City continue to threaten progress at every turn," he warned.
Le Château is located at 1410 Route 35 in South Salem at the intersection of Route 35 and 123. The event begins at 7 PM. The cost is $55 per person ($100 per couple) in
advance, $60 per person at the door. Admission includes one cocktail and hors d’oeuvres. Business attire is preferred. For further information or to obtain
