Exploratory Field Walk with an ecologist

Biologist Jonathan Rosenthal leads this hands-on investigation into the relationships between insects and plants. Participants will hunt for, locate, identify and count insects foraging on plants and witness first hand how native and invasive plants differ as host plants for caterpillars.

About the speaker: As a founding partner of the Ecological Research Institute, Mr. Rosenthal has conducted extensive field research on ecosystem impacts of invasive plants, taught biology and environmental policy at area colleges, created environmental education programs, and advised major conservation groups.

This event is part of the Birds and Bees: Wildlife Needs event series, brought to you by a partnership of Bedford Audubon Society, Mianus River Gorge, Pound Ridge Land Conservancy and the Westchester Land Trust.  We will hold two of these field walks on the same day.  First field walk: 10am-11:30am.  Second field walk: 1pm- 2:30pm.  Space is limited so please visit westchesterlandtrust.org/birds-and-bees to register.  For more information please call Tate Bushell at (914) 234-6992 EXT 10.
