Jeffrey Terreson Fine Art presents DEPARTURE

Bedford, New York-based fine artist Jeffrey Terreson announces his third biennial, solo exhibition/show, DEPARTURE, at Bedford Historical Hall, 608 Old Post Rd, Bedford, New York. Opening night party will be Friday, November 29, 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The show runs through Sunday, December 1. Terreson, well known for his interpretive paintings of horses and abstracts, uses light and color as a gesture of fiction and realism inspired from local surroundings. He will be introducing his new DEPARTURE series representing his continued growth and responsibility to move forward as a painter, embarking towards a persistence of being fearless to the new.

DEPARTURE includes "Winters Spring" (73” x 144”), a triptych painting that brands the show. It is one of the many new paintings that engages the force and energy driving Terreson to paint with this new attitude. This painting on maple panel with pure oils and wax allows textures to rise up to one-to-two inches in a mesmerizing relief, demonstrating a maturity and dynamic use of colored texture. This new technique flourishes in the freedom of discovery where intuition defines the cornerstones of this collection.

“When painting, I never seem to be fully satisfied until the painting finds itself -- the process is about letting go, having the faith and confidence to allow the painting to unfold and become the art, as a conduit, I become the messenger," explains Terreson. Discovering and creating texture, mixing color and process is the practice that deepens his conviction to paint.

DEPARTURE will feature more then 35 paintings, including Terreson’s EQUUS series. This highly popular series has been acquired by affluential collectors such as Ralph Lauren and Joseph Abboud, and has had successful showings at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Florida and the Hampton Classic.

The artist, Jeffrey Terreson (b. 1955, Bronxville, New York), earned a four year merit scholarship from Columbus College of Art and Design and received his BFA in 1976. His work has been purchased by Mobil, IBM, NBC, and the United Nations.

In 2009, Terreson turned to the Bedford, New York community, where he has lived for more than fifty years, and exhibited his work in his first solo show, ONE. As a result of the wildly successful show, Bedford resident Ralph Lauren became a collector. MADE IN BEDFORD 2011, the second biennial solo show, drew greater attention and recognition from the local and New York art communities.

Terreson’s paintings can be found in more than 150 private collections. Other than his affiliation with Newbury Fine Arts in Boston, he is a self-representing artist. Contrary to misleading information online, Jeffrey Terreson is not represented or affiliated with any other websites, publishers, or galleries.
