LHA PACE AT RESERVATION IS SUNDAY

With the storms of the past two years distant memories, the trails at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation have never looked more beautiful as the members of the Lewisboro Horsemen's Association prepare to host their annual Fall Hunter Pace at the 4,700 acre park on Sunday, October 6, 2013.

The event is part of the Associated Bridle Trails Fall Pace Series which includes hunter paces in Bedford, Middlebury, Pawling, Putnam, Greenwich, Pocantico and Newtown.  Ribbons will be awarded from first to tenth place with winners earning points towards trophies in the Fall Pace Series.

The divisions are Hunt, Pleasure, Junior (at least one rider 18 or under), and Western (at least one Western rider).   Teams may have 2 or 3 riders.  Riders under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.  Returning this year is the always fun "Munchkin Run" which begins around Noon

Entrance fees include a hot buffet lunch prepared by the Horse & Hound Inn, South Salem, NY, and admission to the park for one tow vehicle and trailer. Lunch is also available for non-riders.  There is a $10 discount for pre-registration (ten dollars will be added to entrants on the day of the event).  Start times will be from 8 AM to 12 noon, with lunch served from 11 AM to 2 PM, and the awards ceremony will be at 2 PM.

Now celebrating its 23rd season, the Lewisboro Horsemen’s Association continues to develop and maintain over 25 miles of trails throughout Lewisboro.  The organization holds events throughout the year, including its Spring Poker Run, a holiday party and family barbecues in the summer, as well as trail cleanup days and educational seminars.  LHA members receive a discount on the pace registration fee.  Trail Membership is $55 per year for an individual and $65 per family.  Supporting membership for those who do not own horses but want to support the trail system is $30.  Juniors are encouraged to join.
