Mead Memorial Chapel concert – Camerata NY

What:               Featuring the Trio of Richard Owen, Kate Owen and
Sayuri K. Lyons.



Who:                Richard Owen is an accomplished pianist, organist and
conductor.  He is currently the Music
Director and conductor of Camerata New York Orchestra as well as music director
and organist at the Drew Methodist Church
in Carmel, NY. 
He has conducted in Germany,
Austria and Poland.  Closer to home, he has conducted the New York
Philharmonic.  Born into a musical
family, he began studying piano and voice at age five, and was a piano
scholarship recipient at Dartmouth
College.  Mr. Owen regularly gives piano recitals with
his wife, a professional cellist.



Kate Owen is principal cellist as well as co-founder
and Executive Director of the Camerata New York chamber orchestra.  She is an accomplished cellist, music
teacher, vocal coach and choral conductor. 
She has both successfully organized and performed critically acclaimed
concerts in such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and the
Cathedral of St. John the Divine, among others. A native of Poland, Ms. Owen received her Masters degree
from the F. Chopin University of Music in Warsaw
and continued her studies in Vienna.
She has performed throughout Europe and the U.S. and she has an extensive
discography of classical CDs to her credit.

Sayuri K. Lyons, The Lyons Chamber Players’ Concertmaster, has
performed extensively throughout North America and Asia
for numerous orchestras including the Springfield Symphony, El Paso Opera, and
Santa Barbara Symphony.  Sayuri is
credited as an orchestrator and concertmaster for Hollywood
film scores. A native of Osaka, Japan, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a graduate degree.  She has played concertmaster with Fresno
Opera, the Osaka Opera Club and the Lyric Opera of Los Angeles among others.



Why:                The Mead Memorial Chapel Event Series was originally
started in 2005 to mark the centennial of the building of the Chapel. Its
groundbreaking was in 1905 and the dedication occurred in 1907. The Trustees of
the Chapel, descendants of Sarah Frances Studwell Mead, who built the Chapel as
a memorial to her husband, co-sponsors these events with the Waccabuc
Landowners Council.

Tickets:           Adults,
$30 – Students, $10.  Reservations
recommended.  Tickets should be reserved
or purchased in advance; they will be held at the door.  Make checks payable to the Waccabuc Landowners Council and mailed to
WLC, P.O. Box 311, Waccabuc, NY 10597.  
The Chapel is not handicap-accessible, nor does it have restrooms.
