It’s finally feeling like spring in northern Westchester, and nothing

kicks off the warm weather fun like the annual St. Patrick’s Carnival and Raffle.

Always starting the Tuesday after Mother’s Day, the weeklong Carnival at St. Patrick’s

Parochial School in Bedford Village has been a tradition for four decades because it is the

first big outdoor event of its kind in the region.

The event draws thousands of families from Putnam, nearby Fairfield County, Conn., and

down county on weeknights and all weekend. This year’s dates are May 14th through May

19th, culminating with a grand prize raffle drawing for a 2013 Mercedes-Benz C300 4Matic

or $25,000 cash.

Still run entirely by volunteers from the church and from the parochial school the St.

Patrick’s Carnival and Raffle raises money for the educational and charitable ministries of

the parish.

Admission is always free. Parking in three convenient locations in walking distance to the

carnival grounds is also free.

As always, the Carnival grounds are on the big green lawn of St. Patrick’s school at Route 22

and Greenwich Road. There is plenty of security to make sure everyone is safe and can focus

on having fun.

Check out the arcade-style games of chance to win a prize or try the newest rides in the

carnival world. Feast on great home-cooked carnival favorites from our kitchen and our

outdoor grills. The turnouts are huge, but there is plenty of room for everyone.

Remember that on Saturday and Sunday, one bracelet lets you ride all afternoon for a single

price. Don’t miss the week everyone will be talking about and don’t forget your chance to

win a new Mercedes-Benz or $25,000 cash.
