Community Corner

Volunteer Interest Day - How to join the Westmoreland Volunteer Corps!

Have you ever had an interest in working in nature, the environment or with animals? Are you looking for a way to give back to your community while spending time in the great outdoors? Are you looking for a way to fill your community service hours or looking for a fun and exciting way to spend some of your free time? Becoming part of the volunteer corps is a great place to start.
We are looking to put together a regular volunteer corps to help with many projects and programs we have throughout the year.  Give as little or as much time as you can.  Opportunities and internships can be found for middle school, high school and college students as well as all ages of adults and even retirees.

Westmoreland will hold 3 volunteer Interest Days in March to introduce volunteers to the variety of areas we have opportunities in.
Every Interest Day meeting will provide information about general volunteer opportunities, the ability for advancement in various areas of volunteer work such as education, conservation or working with the animals.

We will go over specific instructions for participation, and end each session participating in a particular aspect of our volunteer program.

March 16th – 1:00pm / Maple Sugaring Season Jobs
March 19th – 7:00pm / Program Animal Care
March 23rd – 1:00pm / Trail Maintenance

For more information about these sessions or general volunteer questions, please contact Steve Ricker at (914)666-8448 ext 5 or sending an email to  sricker@westmorelandsanctuary.org.  More information on all the volunteer opportunities can be found on our website at www.westmorelandsanctuary.org
