Volunteers needed for Old Croton Aqueduct trail
The Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct are inviting volunteers to participate in the third annual "I Love My Park Day" by improving a section of the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail in Cortlandt/Ossining on Saturday. (Rain date is Sunday May 4.)
Volunteers will be preserving trees and native plants by removing invasive species, cutting vines and will also be clearing brush and litter. Instruction will be offered on plant identification as well as on vine cutting and plant removal techniques. Experienced leaders, naturalists and State Parks crew members will work along with the volunteers to provide expert guidance. Tasks are available for all skill levels and ages - please join us!
Wear long pants, hats and long sleeved shirts, and bring lunch. Water, coffee, snacks, gloves and "bug stuff" will be provided as well as commemorative tee shirts and other perks and prizes. Consider pre-registering at http://www.ptny.org/ilovemypark/;however, walk-ins are most welcome as are family, friends and neighbors.
This event is being held in collaboration with Parks & Trails NY and The NY State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation, co-sponsored by Teatown Lake Reservation with assistance from the Bronx River Reservation Conservancy and Westchester County Parks Dept.
