Field Trip to Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, Queens, with Bedford Audubon Naturalist Tait Johansson

Here's another chance to visit this popular birding destination in late summer, this time under the leadership of Tait Johansson. We will be there at high tide, the opportune time to see the continuing shorebird migration. We should see some fall warblers as the songbird migration begins. And many of the summer residents including Osprey, Common and Forster's Terns, Snowy and Great Egrets, Great Blue Herons will still be at the refuge. Bring binoculars, lunch, sunscreen, plenty of cold drinks, and boots you don't mind getting muddy. Level of difficulty: Easy to moderate.Register with Joan E. Becker jebecker@bedfordaudubon.org or by telephone at (914) 232-4806. Carpool from Bylane Farm, 35 Todd Road, Katonah, at 8:00 a.m. Return to Bylane around 4:00 p.m.
