K-L Superintendent to Address League of Women Voters

Dr. Paul Kreutzer, superintendent of the Katonah-Lewisboro School District, will address members of the and their guests at the League's annual meeting on Tuesday, June 12, at , 234 North Bedford Road, Mount Kisco.      

New officers and board members will be elected at the meeting, which will begin at 10:30 a.m. Following luncheon at noon, Dr. Kreutzer, a former Wisconsin educator, will speak about his first year as K-L superintendent, his hopes and plans for the future and his relationship with his new community.

Dr.Kreutzer began his five-year term when the K-L school board hired him from residents who protested against his support of the controversial Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin. League members and guests will question Dr. Kreutzer after his address.

Okay but let's focus on the charter of the BOE. The Board of Education believes its primaryRead More responsibility should focus on creating an educational environment that will help our students become knowledgeable individuals, problem-solvers, quality producers, effective communicators, wholesome individuals, collaborative workers, ethical individuals, life-long learners, and responsible, accepting and involved citizens. We remain committed to providing a high quality, well-balanced educational program that supports our faculty and staff and helps our students meet and exceed State standards as well as high district goals. It says nothing about protecting the investments of taxpayers by voting "no" on every expenditure. We need forward thinking, broad minded individuals to help guide educational direction of our schools. Keeping expenses reasonable and and in check should be a consideration by the educational focus should be primary. Although novices, Trustees Tobin and Schiff have helped true the course of the board back to the direction of education. Mr Stone who himself admitted he had never even been to a BOE meeting before deciding to run offers no sense of motivation other than Dr Treyz and his friends think he'll help shift the direction back toward finance. Mr Holbrook is no different a candidate than Mr Lipton himself was 6 years ago.
