Katonah United Methodist Church Holy Week Events

The Katonah United Methodist Church is planning
several special events for the Lenten and Easter season.  All are welcome
to attend.  Bring your friends!

On Maundy Thursday , April 5, at 6:30 pm,
the church will hold its annual Agape Meal (Love Feast) and Service of the
Shadows commemorating the Last Supper and Christ’s death.  Your experience of the joy of the resurrection will be deeper and more meaningful if you can attend this interactive service.  The first part of the service is a convivial potluck supper of simple finger foods, i.e., fruit, cheese, dips, crackers, and bread.  Beverages are provided.  It’s a festive time of fellowship.  After the supper, we enact a symbolic hand washing and move into the dramatic telling of the Passion story.

The annual Easter Sunrise Service will be
held Sunday, April 8, at 6:00 am at the south end of the Cross River Dam.
Dress warmly.

On Sunday, April 8, the joyous Easter Service at 10 am in the church sanctuary will feature special music and musicians.  Trumpeter Sal Ciraldo, drummer Martin Fisher and violinist Lucie Gelinas will join music director Keith Burton in accompanying the church
choir’s stirring musical celebration of Easter.  A special fellowship
hour will follow the service.  Please sign up to bring something
to share.Help decorate the cross and bear witness to God's power and love to our community.

All attending the Easter Service are encouraged to bring cut flowers to hang on the cross standing outside
on the church lawn.  The flowers symbolically transform the cross, an
instrument of suffering, humiliation, and death, into a symbol of resurrection,
love, and victory.  Flowers like daffodils, tulips, and daisies from your
garden or the super market are perfect.
