Lewisboro Land Trust Celebrates Earth Day with Support from Local Businesses on April 15

The Lewisboro Land Trust (LLT) invites local businesses to join Vista Wine, Cross River Pharmacy, Susan Kuper Real Estate and Treat to support efforts to improve community access to its nature preserves and enhance its outreach programs.  Since 1996, the LLT has worked with the Westchester Land Trust to protect more than 600 acres of open space and Lewisboro's rural heritage.  Through land acquistion, stewardship, and educational outings, the LLT facilitates the protection and enjoyment of land in Lewisboro.

This summer, an intern will help the LLT enhance visitation to its Old Church Lane Preserve in South Salem, install letterbox stations along several trails in Lewisboro, and provide educational updates to the community by creating a stewardship blog to document field observations and project progress.  Local businesses are invited to make donations to the LLT’s internship fund on Lewisboro Land Trust Day - April 15, 2011.

"The Lewisboro Land Trust does important work for our community by protecting land and providing nature trails for all to enjoy. I'm happy to be part of Lewisboro Land Trust Day to support their efforts," said Joseph Cizynski, Owner of Vista Wine.

On April 15, 2011 Mr. Cizynski has pledged to donate 25% of Vista Wine’s proceeds to support Lewisboro Land Trust Day and the summer internship.   Vista Wine is joined by Cross River Pharmacy and Susan Kuper Real Estate whose owners have also pledged generous donations in support of the Lewisboro Land Trust.  Treat Frozen Yogurt is helping to promote the work of LLT by displaying trail maps and selling trail guides at its Cross River location.

“It is wonderful to have the support of these businesses who recognize the benefits we all enjoy from living near protected land,” said Susan Henry, who leads Lewisboro Land Trust’s Advisory Board.  “We’re hoping people in the community will recognize them for their generosity and thank them for helping the LLT protect the land we all love”.
