TRADE-NOT-AID JEWELRY INITITATIVE SAME SKY HOSTS TRUNK SHOW IN KATONAH ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 26th
On Monday, September 26, 2011 from 11AM – 3PM Katonah Museum of Art will host a trunk show featuring Same Sky jewelry made by women artisans in Africa at the St. Matthews Church Parish House in Bedford. Same Sky is a trade-not-aid jewelry initiative that supports African women living with HIV/AIDS. Employed as artisans, women of Africa are taking their first steps out of poverty and toward empowerment. 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of Same Sky’s jewelry goes to buying more materials and employing more women. The accessory line includes: ‘Prosperity Bracelets’ that are intricately crocheted with delicate seed beads by women artisans in Zambia (starting at $55), fabric wraps made from hand-dyed Rwandan textiles (starting at $30) and Same Sky’s signature collection of crocheted hand-blown glass beads bracelets (starting at $160) and necklaces ($350). The ultra-trendy accessories are worn by celebrities such as Alicia Keys, Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, and Meryl Streep to name a few. For more information please visit www.samesky.com. The event is free and open to the public.
