Bedford Mom is 'Mrs. Holiday' Finalist

Sharon Rowley could win $50,000 if selected as Taste of Home Magazine's holiday ambassador.

Not only does Sharon Rowley do all of the things a busy mother does—maintain an organized home, prepare healthy meals for her six children, help with homework, among a million other things—she manages to write about how she does it, to help the rest of us slog through our days more efficiently.

Through her blog—Mom of 6, which some Patch readers may recognize from her occasional post on —Rowley, a Bedford Corners resident, provides tips on everything from organizing a family calendar to crafting with kids.

Her online presence was launched two years ago after she submitted an audition tape to become part of iVillage Voices—and was selected to share information through video correspondence on topics women are passionate about.

That includes food. And it is recipe for her signature Tangy Cranberry-Raspberry Sauce—submitted through another online contest—that could net her $50,000 toward the college education of her six children.

She submitted her recipe to the Taste of Home "Mrs. Holiday" contest. If selected, Rowley will become an ambassador for the magazine and represent someone who brings the holidays to life in a fun and creative way.

And that would help her six kids, Kyle, 11, Spencer, 10, Jack, 9, Charlotte, 8, Lili Ann, 7, and Alex, age six. They are all currently enrolled in Bedford Central schools.

"Everything I do, it’s about funding their college accounts," she said.

Rowley now coordinates the iVoice program for iVillage, has built up a following on her blog and attracted big-box advertisers like Lowe's home improvement stores.

Rowley said she enjoyed creating her video for the Mrs. Holiday contest.

"My whole take is that we put way to much pressure on ourselves to create this vision of a perfect holiday," she said. "You should pick one or two signature dishes so you don’t slave away in the kitchen, and enjoy the holiday."

You can for Rowley's recipe once per day until voting ends on Sept. 7. Visit Facebook.com/TasteofHome to vote.
