Easter Egg Hunts

Easter Candy Hunt, Saturday, March 31, 1 p.m. at in Mount Kisco. In addition to the candy hunt, there are children's games like the jelly bean and balloon hop relay. Bring your own bag for collecting. The price is free, and the event is sponsored by Bedford Village Chowder and Marching Club. Rain date: April 1, 1 p.m.

Spring Egg Hunt, Tuesday April 3 at the in conjunction with the Bedford parks and recreation department. The event, a springtime tradition for over 20 years, includes a performance by magician David Levitan at 10:45 a.m., followed by the egg hunt at 11:15 a.m., followed by more magic. The Spring Bunny will be on hand for photos.

About 8,000 eggs are placed around the property in sections divided by age group: 2-5, 6-7 and 8-10, according to Kim O'Brien, senior recreation leader. But get there on time—once the horn blows, she said, the eggs go fast. It's also free! Rain date is Thurs. April 5 at the Fox Lane High School turf field, same time.

Flashlight Egg Hunt, for grades three through seven, is Tuesday, April 3 at at approximately 7:45 p.m. The helps light up the park with a truck. During the hunt the kids use flashlight to collect eggs in a designated area.  Pre Registration is required for this event with a $5.00 fee. Kids need to bring a Flashlight and a bag to collect. The rain date for this event is Wednesday April 4, same time.

Town of Lewisboro Egg Hunt at Town Park, Thurs. April 5 at 11 a.m. The park will have three areas designated for eggs: Ages 1-3, 4-5 and 6-8 year olds.  The Lewisboro Seniors volunteered for two days to stuff 5,000 eggs with candy and some special prizes. Annie and the Natural Wonder Band will perform at the event, in its 25th year. The Lewisboro Bunny will be available for meeting and greeting and photos. This event is free and open to all town and school district residents, according to Dana Mayclim, parks superintendent, who says it's one of her favorite events because it spans several generations. She also said the actual egg hunting goes fast—"thank goodness the memories last longer than the hunt!"

Library Activities

Movie Night, Mon. April 2 at 5:30 p.m. at the . Bring your friends to see the movie "The Adventures of Tintin" the globe-trotting adventures of a boy and his dog. Parents/caregiver must accompany children for the duration of the movie.

Poetry in Motion, Wed. April 4, Katonah Village Library, 11 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. for kids in grades two through five. Hear poems about spring, gardens, and nature. Learn how to write your own spring poems and let your words fly in this special writing and craft program led by author and writing teacher Kim Kovach. Registration is required.

Family Movie, Thurs April 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the Katonah Village Library.Bring the little ones and see the 1971 film classic "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" rated G. Feel free to bring a small, non-messy snack. Parents/caregiver must accompany all children for the duration of movie.

John Jay Homestead Mini-camps

All sessions are $15 per child, $12 for members of the Friends of John Jay Homestead. For more information call 232-5651, ext. 101, registration is required.

Top Secret: Monday, April 02, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. 

Do you have what it takes to become a Spymaster? During the American Revolution, John Jay ran a secret network of spies. Learn about these spies and their stories as you tour the museum. Then try your hand at using invisible ink and decoding secret messages. This is a two-hour drop-off program for children aged five to ten.

What’s Cooking? Tuesday, April 03, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Experience first-hand what it was like to work in a kitchen two hundred years ago. Children will get the opportunity to tour and touch objects in the museum's Summer Kitchen Discovery Center. They will also prepare an historic recipe they can complete at home.

The Chicken or the Egg? Wednesday, April 04 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. 

Come and learn about the heritage breed chickens now living at John Jay Homestead! One of our chicken experts will take children into the coop, where they will help care for the birds. Afterward, children will make a chicken-inspired craft to take home.

Then & Now Thursday, April 05, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

What was life like two hundred years ago? What did people do for heat and light? Where did their food and water come from? Children will explore the formal parlor and bedrooms at the Homestead to discover how people lived during John Jay's lifetime. They will then make hand-dipped candles. This is a two-hour drop-off program for children aged five to ten.

Art Mini-camps at the

The Katonah Art Center is offering half-and-full day sessions for kids in grades 1 -5 and 6 - 12, with extended day options. Students will work with a variety of materials, trying their hand at clay, painting, drawing & crafts. Call 232-4843 for details or to register.

Tuesday, April 3 – Friday, April 6, from 10 .m. - 3 p.m. Looking for something to entertain your children on school vacation days? Let the KMA be your child’s personal art studio. Each day a teaching artist leads different art projects inspired by the Chinese-themed exhibitions on view. Projects include Chinese kites, dragon puppets, decorative calligraphy, and paper cutting.Children under age 6 must participate with an adult; 7 and older, adults must remain at the Museum.
