Holiday Events 2011 in Bedford and Katonah

Here's what's happening in local holiday celebrations. Know of something we missed? Tell us in the comments and add it to the Patch calendar!

Local neighborhood associations, chambers of commerce, business groups and schools have started to announce plans for holiday festivities. Here are the major events planned in town, so mark your calendars.

Santa Comes to Katonah Nov. 26

Presented by the Katonah Fire Department and the Katonah Chamber of behind Chase Bank. Santa will pass out candy canes, visit with the children of Katonah, and provide fabulous photo opportunities.

Weekend of Lights in Katonah Starts Dec. 2

A special holiday weekend filled with celebrations, special shopping events, music and lights. The weekend begins on Friday, December 2nd with the first night of holiday lights. On Saturday, December 3rd, everyone is invited downtown for holiday shopping, dining and strolling and fun activities including: a “holiday cookie collection” in which customers will be invited to stroll from shop to shop and fill a bag with festive holiday cookies to take home; special holiday store promotions;music and refreshments; and community caroling with friends and neighbors at the gazebo at 3 p.m.

Hosted by the Bedford Village Business Association, festivities get underway at 6:30 p.m. with hot chocolate at the Bedford Firehouse and a countdown to the lighting of the tree on the Village Green at 7 p.m. There will be caroling by the Charis Chamber Voices.

Jingle Pass Weekend Kicks off Dec. 2

With its start marked by the village tree lighting, the weekend offers a festive shopping atmosphere at participating village businesses. Take a stroll through the hamlet for special holiday discounts and treats!

Holiday Tours at the Court House

The Bedford Historical Society offers free tours of Bedford Village buildings that offer a glimpse of Bedford's past. On Friday, from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM and Saturday, from 11:00 Am - 3:00 PM, stop by the 1787 Court House and Bedford Museum and get a glimpse into Bedford's past. Tours are free during the holidays.


Bedford Hills Tree Lighting Dec. 3

is on Saturday, December 3 at 6:15 p.m. at Depot Plaza in Bedford Hills. There will be caroling by the Antioch Choir, cookies, hot chocolate and Santa Claus is scheduled to make an appearance, too!

Katonah Tree and Menorah Lighting Ceremony on Sunday December 4th

Residents gather ‘round the tree for the ceremonial lighting and for holiday music from some of the areas best acts including: John Jay High School’s
two talented groups, The Notables and The Rolling Tones, local Girl Scout troops
and more! Hot chocolate and cookies will be served, compliments of St. Luke’s
parish community members.

Breakfast with Frosty Dec. 10

The Town of Bedford Recreation and Parks Department will hold Breakfast with Frosty for children age 8 and under accompanied by an adult. A breakfast of cereal and donuts will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by a performance by Patti Hupp and the Feeling Groovy Band. Pre-registration is required due to limited space.
