Patch Picks: Hunger Banquet; Copying the Masters; Random Farms Kids

There is something for everyone to do this week in the Hudson Valley.

Youth in Action's Annual Hunger Banquet. Nov. 19. 6 p.m. Fox Lane HS hosts Youth in Action's Annual Hunger Banquet, which is open to the public. Help fund-raise for the Oxfam America Hunger Banquet with a $10 admission fee and raise awareness of hunger issues around the world. Fox Lane High School, 632 S Bedford Rd., Bedford. $10.00

 

Art Exhibit of Nancy Cheadle. Nov. 19. 10 a.m. Works by late artist and illustrator Nancy Duncan Cheadle are on display at the Bronxville Women's Club. Cheadle died from cancer last June. Proceeds from art sales will be donated to local charities. Bronxville Women's Club, 135 Midland Ave, Bronxville. FREE.

Art Gallery: "Copying the Masters" by Ed Oberhaus. Nov. 17. 11 a.m. Visit Mercy College's exhibition, “Copying the Masters,” now through Dec. 21 and experience the world's masterpieces in your backyard. Copies of “The Panel of the Lions” by Unknown Artist (ca. 32,000 B.C.), Boudin’s “The Beach at Trouville” (1864), Van Gogh’s “The Church at Auvers,” (1890), “Girl Reading at a Table” by Picasso (1953), and more are on display.  Mercy College, 555 Broadway, Dobbs Ferry. Random Farms Kids Theater Presents "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." Nov. 19. Kids give it their all during The Random Farms Kids' Theater's production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at the Tarrytown Musical Hall Nov. 12, 13, 17-20 and 26. More than 150 local children practiced for 10 weeks to stage the show. Tarrytown Music Hall, 13 Main St, Tarrytown. $8.00.  

 

Deanna’s Educational Theatre presents “The Yellow Dress.” Nov. 20. 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a free presentation of "The Yellow Dress," a one-woman act based on the stories of young women who were victims of dating violence. The story of Anna and Rick exposes the warning signs of abusive relationships and helps families and friends learn how to cope. The staging is co-sponsored by Rockland Jewish Family Services, Rockland Family Shelter, and Clarkstown South High School. There is a suggested donation of $10 per family to cover program costs. Nov. 18. 12 p.m. Not much captures the imaginations of children like doll houses and miniatures. Head to the Historical Society of Rockland County for the 37th Annual Miniature, Dollhouse & Art Exhibition: Memories. The exhibition also serves as a fund-raiser with a suggested donation of $7 for adults, $5 for members, and $3 for children under 12 (children under 3 are free). "Animal Magnetism"...A Community Exhibition of Its Animal Companions. Nov. 17. 12 p.m. The Studio Around the Corner presents along with the Town of Southeast Cultural Arts Coalition “Animal Magnetism.” The show features more than 30 photographs, paintings, and drawings from residents celebrating their animal companions.
