POLL: Do You Support the Wall Street Protestors?

Take the Patch LunchPoll to express your opinion on the protest taking place in downtown New York City.

It's day 18 of the "Occupy Wall Street" protest.

The numbers of protestors has grown from a handful of college students to approximately 2,000 people camped out a variety of reasons.

Chief among them are economic concerns, according to the Huffington Post which reports that "protesters speak often of the national wealth gap—the vast differences in income that separate the richest 1 percent of Americans from everybody else."

What do you think about the protest?

Take the poll and tell us more in comments.

James your either a fool or idiot.....The first article has to do with a hopthetical arrest at the WH if Backman was arrested President, the second has to do with a "Oath Keeper Arrested" what that has to do with the Tea Party is beyond me. The third has to do with a California State Senator who may be a Tea Party member arrested for DUI.....I did not waste my time looking up the last reference on the net becasue I figured it was the same stupity. I did check the net again just to make sure and still can't find a Tea Party memeber arrest at any event....what I do find area few articles where Tea Party members were assulted by union thugs. Youk know Jimmy before the net you socialist progressive democart's could get away with this disinformation stuff but now it's getting tougher and tougher as for a count of arrests "Occupy Wall Street" counting just NYC, Boston and Washington DC stands at appx 850 to Tea Partry 0 (zero). You are some loser.....
Walt October 11, 2011 at 04:48 pm
OMG, seriously? James was looking to bash the TEA party with those links? I thought the point of his post was a tongue in cheek slap at TEA party detractors. At first I thought he was brilliant but as it turns out......."not so much".
James October 11, 2011 at 05:49 pm
Apparently I am a little of both if I actually thought that the likes of someone like you would read reality and accept the truth. I should have known better. Ditto to your friend below.
Diana October 11, 2011 at 06:59 pm
Talk about someone who has a lot of time on their hands....LOL get a cap and march!
Meredith Lesly 7:01pm on Saturday, October 8, 2011Apparently you have trouble reading. I said most teachers work 50 hours a week, with many working 60–70. Nice way to distort things to prop up your fallacious point.
Diana October 11, 2011 at 07:03 pm
Huff post supports this wow what a surprise. Aren't they rich too?Wosrt TV show the View has got to go what a laugh those old hogs are
Walt October 11, 2011 at 07:08 pm
LOL, James being a foolish idiot is not something you'd want to get out at job interview but I guess a career isn't something that would concern you at this point in your life, but seriously, you should cut back on the herb because apparently it is scrambling your brain.
As the old saying goes, it is better to remain silent and have people wonder if you are an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
OccupyTheFed October 11, 2011 at 08:50 pm
Tony, the Fed should be your problem not those protesting against it. How are you walking here for 63 years and still playing the sap for these guys
The Fed is a private institution, a banking cartel. Take a peek at the Constitution. Here's a little something from someone who knew a little bit about it. "If the American people ever allow private banks to control their currency, first by inflation then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all their prosperity until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." - Thomas Jefferson

There are lots of studies showing that greater income disparity is related to instability in the country. And, in general, CEOs aren't being paid for their excellent performance. Take a look at http://blogs.ajc.com/jay-bookman-blog/2011/10/04/why-is-ceo-pay-so-high-because-theyre-all-so-great/ for some examples.

This is good stuff. Can I host a debate on this in a local library? It really is good stuff.

heard one Protester on Fox News this morning. I have to agree NO political voice PLEASE if this is about the People ALL people then PLEASE keep actors and Politicians and Al Sharpton OUT of it! Do not let them take over for their own agenda!
Also I agree, Campaign reform, that means the people down in wall street should not be BIG donates to Obama or anyone one else running. That means lobbyists who have high jacked our Politicians should not donate to campaigns either. I think It was John Mc Cain who tried this and was shot down and Obama took plenty of money during that time. To raise a billion, that money is not coming from those Marches! It is coming from BIG Millionaires. So Yes REFORM , Keep Your OWN voice. The moment you let Sharpton in there, forget it. The peoples voices get lost and it becomes a political moment. That is why I thought when I heard move on.org and Huff Post getting involved we thought it was only a liberal agenda. but if it is for all people as these gentlemen said on Fox, His name is John, Then I like his message. He said their are people down there with their own agenda. But we invite ALL people Tea party -all people. We do not want someone to be our voice like a politicians GOOD! I hope they keep it about the People-issues- and for all!

@John Bucknavage [Previous efforts from the thousands in Detroit who lost their automotive industry jobs through no fault of their own] Wrong John, they priced themselves out of a job. More and more each year they demanded and got, until the coffers were drained.
Francis T McVetty October 13, 2011 at 09:08 pm
This all would be a mute issue if the government lived within it means. They are out of control in Washington DC. You can't spend more money than you take in. It is called debt when you do. The government keeps growing year after year with no end in sight. This is not only happening in Washington but all over the country in state and municipal governments. It is the credit card mentality. Spend now and pay later. Guess what, LATER is here now. It is time to pay the piper. Oh, but I don't have the money. Don't worry we will borrow it from the Chinese.
We need a change in the attitude of the public in general. My mother always said if you don't have the money in hand, then you can't buy it. That philosophy worked for her. There are some in Washington that are heeding the message. Unfortunately they are in the minority, especially in the Senate and the white house.
John Bucknavage October 13, 2011 at 10:11 pm
Whose decision was it to write off losses in billions every year for the thousands of cars produced never sold? Was it the union workers? Did Detroit bail out automobile workers as they did the automotive companies? Who outpriced what? Did the unions prohibilitively outprice the manufactured vehicles? Is that in their job function?Perhaps you can explain how the companies indebted themselves, so our government decided to bail out these private corporations? Was it because the global enterprise was wholly mismanged? Was it because dealers demanded high profit margins on larger vehicles that fewer and fewer purchased in favor of the foreign models marketed to buyer interest?
Francis T McVetty October 13, 2011 at 10:22 pm
What, they work 50 hours a week and some work 60-70? Where do they do that, certainly not in the public school system!!!!!!
Francis T McVetty October 13, 2011 at 10:24 pm
Why aren't the protesters demonstrating in front of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac?
Meredith Lesly October 13, 2011 at 10:46 pm
Yes, teachers work that many hours. In Yorktown, for example, teachers arrive before 7 and leave after 3. That's 40 hours right there. Then there is homework/tests to write and grade, meeting with students individually, department and faculty meetings, non-teaching days, etc.
concernedaboutthehallow October 13, 2011 at 10:47 pm
Yeah let's give more money to the gov't which obviosly can"t management more as they are already clearly established as incompetant.....let's give they more and go against what made this country great....makes a ton of sense to me......NOT.....u people are mormons simpletons.......what made this country what it is is what u want to take away......that's brilliant....meradith eat another pizza please........
concernedaboutthehallow October 13, 2011 at 10:51 pm
People who can't do teach....yet we pay and treat them like royality......BS
Meredith Lesly October 13, 2011 at 10:52 pm
In recent history, the only president who didn't run a deficit was Clinton, so clearly you're wrong. One can't really compare the federal government to a household in any useful way, although I should point out that an enormous number of households carry a great deal of debt without it being a problem.
Meredith Lesly October 13, 2011 at 10:54 pm
Because it's the bankers who in large part crashed the economy? Not to mention reaping obscene profits before and after that?
Meredith Lesly October 13, 2011 at 10:56 pm
Aren't you bored with trolling already, Sean?
Meredith Lesly October 13, 2011 at 10:57 pm
lol. I'm quite sure you make more than several teachers combined, so who are you to talk?
concernedaboutthehallow October 13, 2011 at 11:03 pm

Tony T October 13, 2011 at 11:36 pm
Meredith,
Teacher don't work 40hrs a week they are their 40hrs a week. Many of those hours they are assigned other non teahing duties or are on release time. Also it is only for 9 months plus every holiday and expended Christmans, Easter, Spring Break Holiday. So don't cry for them, at least to me!!!
concernedaboutthehallow October 14, 2011 at 12:06 am

The constant on this board is a pariah. She is sad, angry, lonely, paranoid hysteric. Endure her, have pity on her. She is as ugly inside as out.
Meredith Lesly October 14, 2011 at 03:26 am
You said you were "working class" when it suited you, so you could play games with the other people posting, then finally admitted you were a troll. If you had been honest, I wouldn't have bothered to look.
