Strongwaters Support Bedford Democrats

(Below is a letter from Rich and Caryn Strongwater)

To the Editor,

There is an important election on November 5 which will significantly impact the direction the Town takes in the years ahead. We write to urge Bedford voters to support Chris Burdick for election to Town Supervisor and Peter Harckham for re-election as our County Legislator.

Chris has been a close friend for over 14 years; we cannot say enough good things about him. He not only has incredible energy and intelligence, but demonstrates both integrity and diplomacy in all his endeavors (just ask any of his children!) Rich knows Chris from their service on the Wetlands Control Commission, which Chris chaired for 8 years, protecting water quality while helping property owners proceed with their projects. On the Town Board, Chris has been very effective and committed to helping to hold down our Town taxes while continuing to provide essential Town services. We know Chris wants to preserve the beauty and semi-rural character of Bedford. He took the lead and was responsible for the Town’s Ridgeline and Dark Skies Ordinances.

As our County Legislator, Peter Harckham cut County taxes, reduced spending and reduced the workforce while protecting critical services in public safety, health and environmental protection. He has championed term limits, greater transparency in financial disclosure for elected officials, and reduced the Board of Legislators budget by 11%.

Please join us in supporting Chris Burdick and Peter Harckham so they may continue to serve our community so effectively. You may also wish to consider their well-qualified colleagues running with them, Meredith Black for Town Board, Julie Hallowell Vulpescu for Town Board and Simone Shapiro for Town Clerk.

Please remember to vote for them on Tuesday, November 5.

Thank you,

Caryn & Rich Strongwater
